What is SAFED?
SAFED is a complementary driver development course, consisting of assessment
and training. It intends to improve the safe and fuel efficient driving skills
of LCV drivers. It therefore should complement a much broader programme of
commercial vehicle fleet efficiency management.
The one-day SAFED course involves a mixture of classroom and on-the-road
tuition and teaches the use of driving techniques such as better use of gears
to avoid over-revving and unnecessary gear changes, keeping correct distances
to avoid hard braking, and an overall awareness of fuel economy and road
layout.
The fuel consumption reduction alone represents a vast savings of money for your
company of fuel per vehicle, depending on mileage.
Drivers in businesses big or small using their own van qualify for free training.
A small contribution applies to others. The contributions will be reinvested
into training more drivers
A SAFED Qualified Instructor will assess your company drivers performance both
before and after the training. Driving sessions will be used to put safe and
fuel efficient driving techniques into practice. Drivers who reach the SAFED
standard will receive a certificate of achievement.

In-House Assessors Course
MK Driver Training now have several trainers accredited with being able
to deliver the SAFED Assessors course.
This is a 1 day course and is generally conducted after a driver has obtaining
an 'excellent' grade on the standard SAFED for Vans course.
This enables each company to monitor the standards of each of it's van drivers,
assessing them objectively to a set standard. Any drivers that don't reach
this standard could be offered training solutions to suit. VERY COST EFFECTIVE!!
